OvpnSpider Lite

(1) OvpnSpider Lite is not a VPN app. Its purpose is to collect, organize, and filter valid .ovpn configuration files from the internet. These .ovpn profiles can be imported into compatible OpenVPN client apps, including OpenVPN Connect. OvpnSpider Lite is completely free to use.

(2) If you wish to connect to a VPN directly within the app, please download OvpnSpider Pro. This version supports built-in VPN connection functionality and requires a subscription.

(3) Traditional companion app: OpenVPN Connect. You can tap the share icon in OvpnSpider Lite, choose OpenVPN Connect from the sharing list, and import the selected .ovpn profile into OpenVPN Connect. This remains a supported way to use the profiles collected by OvpnSpider Lite.

(4) Recommended alternative: OvpnSpider Connect. OvpnSpider Connect can be used as a smoother companion client for OvpnSpider Lite. If OvpnSpider Connect is installed, tapping a server in the Lite server list can open Connect directly and import the connection parameters. For compatible TCP server profiles, Lite can pass the server address, port, hub, and authentication parameters to Connect as an SSL-VPN profile. In many cases, SSL-VPN provides a more efficient and more responsive connection than using the same server through an OpenVPN profile.

OPENVPN CONNECT

The traditional workflow is to export an OpenVPN profile (.ovpn) to another application. When the share icon is tapped, a list of available sharing destinations will appear. If OpenVPN Connect is installed on your device and you select it, the profile can be imported there.

EXPORT

The share icon keeps the traditional export flow. You can send a .ovpn profile by Mail, save it to Files, or share it with another compatible VPN client when needed.

OVPNSPIDER CONNECT

OvpnSpider Connect can be used as an alternative to OpenVPN Connect. It works more smoothly with OvpnSpider Lite because Lite can open Connect directly and import supported connection parameters without requiring the user to pick an app from the share sheet.

Lite can pass compatible TCP server parameters to OvpnSpider Connect, allowing Connect to create an SSL-VPN profile instead of relying only on a traditional .ovpn import.

SSL-VPN is the primary protocol supported by OvpnSpider Connect. For compatible SoftEther VPN servers, it can provide a more efficient and responsive VPN connection than the OpenVPN profile workflow.
